Once surgery has been decided we will book a surgery date for you. Please inform Richard and the anaesthetist of any medications you are currently taking as some may need to be ceased prior to surgery.
You may be asked to have some routine tests prior to surgery.

Preparing For Surgery
Prior to surgery
You should report all infections, coughs and colds to Richard as surgery cannot be performed until all infections have cleared up.
You will be asked to book your admission into Hollywood Private Hospital and we will give you the details on how to do this.
Please follow your doctor’s instructions in relation to eating and drinking prior to your admission.
Please bring the following to hospital with you:
- Forms and/or notes from your doctor
- X-rays and scans
- Medications
- Small amount of cash
- Glasses/hearing aids
In hospital
For patients staying overnight please bring all of your regular medication. This medication will be given to you by the nursing staff on the ward and returned to you upon discharge.
Dress comfortably and do not wear makeup or nail varnish for your admission.
If you have had a general anesthetic or sedation you will not be allowed to drive, use machinery, drink alcohol, or do anything which requires a high level of alertness or coordination in the first 24hrs after surgery. Please ensure you have someone available to drive you home.
Once you are home ensure you take your pain medication as directed.
